Family Barbecue

Rocha family friend Harvey Kemple says Peterson showed more emotion over a burned chicken at a backyard barbecue in July, 2002 than he ever showed over the disappearance of his wife.  Kemple became suspicious of Peterson after he claimed he had been golfing, not fishing, the Christmas Eve Laci disappeared.

“The man was thinking more about burnt chicken than he ever thought about his missing wife.”

He told the court he followed Peterson to a shopping center where he watched Peterson sit in his car for 45 minutes.  A defense attorney asked Kemple if he thought it odd that someone might follow Peterson and watch him for 45 minutes.

“Fair statement.” Kemple replied.  Jurors and spectators erupted in laughter.
